This assignment was to design a way to sign historic and scenic routes throughout Oregon to enhance tourism. We partnered with tourism economist Dean Runyan in an initial study to identify how visitors acquire information and how they use it for trip planning. We made recommendations on methods to reduce road-sign clutter, improve wayfinding, and develop modular, self-supporting travel kiosks with quality maps. This work evolved into a design and economic master plan on travel information. A second phase included the signing of rural tour routes with guide, identification, and interpretive signing.
