Millions of people are exposed daily to hazardous chemicals in their workplace. Annually, one in twenty suffers an exposure causing temporary or permanent injury, illness, or death. Some workers are untrained, illiterate, or infrequent users of these hazardous materials. SmartRTK™ labels enable them to obtain salient information quickly.

As part of the Electromark project, we designed posters and other educational materials about safe practices and responses to accidental exposure for use in laboratories and industrial facilities. Tests at Purdue University by Industrial Engineer Mark Lehto, Ph.D., showed that our SmartRTK symbols were significantly superior in all six attributes — accuracy, speed of use, completeness, understandability, ease of use, and overall effectiveness — when compared to the two major labeling systems.
