The historic Columbia River Gorge is one of few places in the world where a person can travel at sea level through seven climatic zones in 100 miles as the river cuts through the Cascades. Our signage reflects the columnar basalt walls of the gorge and the historic arch shape of the man-made stone bridges and structures. The simplicity of this form and the traditional use of the Copperplate Gothic typeface provided a unifying identity to the area. This project received the Columbia River Gorge National Stewardship Award on their 10th anniversary celebration in which selected contributors were honored.
